The historic barn at Wakefield has 24 stalls, each 12' x 12' and equipped with a Nelson automatic waterer. Horses are bedded on shavings and stalls are cleaned daily. Fans keep the horses comfortable during warm weather. Timothy hay is dropped down from the loft as needed. Grain (pellets and/or sweet feed) is fed twice daily and supplements are administered by request. Stall windows and barn doors are screened. The flooring in the aisle ways and wash stalls is rubber brick pavers. Wakefield offers several types of board: basic, exercise, and full/training; you may choose what is best for your horse. There are optional individual services available if you wish to customize care for your horse. There is a boarder tack room with saddle and bridle racks as well as storage space in the loft, easily accessed by a stairway. The barn has two wash stalls with hot & cold water. There are two rings with all-weather footing and a course of show jumps. An observation deck overlooks the outdoor ring. The covered ring is equipped with lights and a watering system. Ten grass paddocks provide daily turn-out, weather permitting. Horses go out either individually or in pairs. The farrier comes every other week. The vet comes to de-worm the horses (and do whatever else is necessary) every six weeks. Our comfortable lounge is heated and air-conditioned and is the perfect spot to relax after a ride, or do homework. In addition to the basic restroom in the barn, there is a shower available in the lounge's restroom for boarders' use. Staff apartments are on the second floor of the lounge/office building.
